Vale is our French workhorse, always up for getting the shot and never giving up… This untypical, grève-free ethic has not gone by unnoticed, quite the contrary.. For the last 2 years, Vale has deservingly been topping the exposure meters of French snow mags. Filming with close friends Gerome Mathieu and Tyler Chorlton, Vale has delivered outstanding parts with “What We Want Films” for the last two winters, and he will work with them again in the 13-14 season..

What was your first snowboard: An old Sims with a swallow tail and I had wind surf foot strap for bindings! Thanks dad for making this happened.

What was your first snowboard movie that got you hooked: After Bang from the RobotFood crew.

Scariest moment of the season: First shooting day of the season. We were in Switzerland with the What We Want Films crew, very nice conditions, sunny and 40 cm of fresh during the night before. We decided to start with lines, so we hike up with my friend Matt Schaer and we opted for different lines. He went first and after a hit, half of the face started to slide down and I couldn't see him very well but the guys told me with the talkie that Matt was in the avalanche but hopefully not all covered. He managed to get out after a few minutes. But when you are up there and don't see very much what's happening it's so sketchy.. Then it was my turn to drop and I was so stressful for the first line of the season. Everything went right but still it was so scary.

Best trip: Last year (March 12), I went to Whistler for my first time. We were at the best place at the best time! It was FULL of snow with a reset almost every day. And it's crazy up there how fast the weather changes, some days it's dumping during the morning so you ride pillows in the forest and then it's blue bird for the afternoon and it's time to go hit kickers and step down at the glacier. And it was also my first time riding a snowmobile and honestly I loved it! The first day it was a pain in the ass because I got stuck so many times that I wanted to leave the sled and go hiking .. But then you start to get it and you don't want to walk anymore! Thanks to Martin Gallant aka The GodFather who has been the best guide you can ever have during the all trip!

One item you always have in your snowboard pants: Wax! It can save your day.

Besides snowboarding: Take time with my friends, girlfriend and family! This is the only thing I miss during winter. And I love to go surf, play golf and as a frenchy "Pétanque"  is my hobby number one.

Future plans: I'm having a very nice life right now, so the plan is to carry on!

Vans First Layer Short Movie
Vans Snowboarding made a great short movie from Japan past winter. Of course Volcom riders were present in full force… Markus Keller, DBK and Valerian Ducourtil drowned in pow. Check it out here: Our boys (Keller) come in at 2:21. Tune in, then book your next flight straight to Hokkaido. Thanks Vans.
Marcus Kleveland upside down down under!
The Kleveland show just came back from 5 weeks spent flipping and spinning all over Perisher, NZ and other Oz mountains.. Here a nice edit of what he’s being doing. Marcus is always in full control of all things snowboarding. However, from the sounds of it, someone picked the soundtrack for him this time around. How else would you explain the absence of the usual “Justin Bieber on speed” sound? Go Marcus! Marcus is wearing the Kabigtime Fleece in WHT, the Stretch Gore pant in TEK and the Travelin’ Hood Thingy in BLK
Three Days with Hairy Scalps in Les 2 Alpes!
It’s August. Meaning the odds of finding parking near the beach is proportional only to the likelihood of eyeing a free square meter of sand to drop your towel on. Then there’s the omnipresent smell of human bacon. Frying slowly in a too small pan. Not exactly the fragrance of choice of todays growing gluten-intolerant/vegan/bio/sustainability conscious youth-community. So you hop in the ocean to cool off, thinking you’ll catch a few. Forget about it. Either it’s flat, or, once the swell hits waist high, a Guinness World record attempt of trying to fit the most tourists on a party wave is taking place on every beach near you.  For the entire month of August. Last but not least (and worst of all), for reasons beyond our understanding, it appears that the trend of “Cover your nipple” instead of “Free your nipple” among female beach-visitors is spreading faster than Donald Trump can make America hate again. Whyyy? So what’s a poor soul to do to escape all this?   Eaaaasy.. Run to the hills! Run to Les Deux Alpes in France, to be specific. Up here, the air is clear,  there’s space aplenty for everyone and the temperature hovers around a comfy, activity-inspiring 20-25 degrees. (That’s 70-ies for our Gringo friends) If you’ve never been to Les Deux Alpes, then shame on you.. There’s NO BETTER PLACE to ride in Europe in Summer.  Sure, Saas Fee gets good, and so does Zermatt. But in terms of multitude of park features, vertical drop, half pipe(s) and last but not least, aprés-riding activities down in the village, no other resort even comes close.   Skating (several parks), swimming and perving on chicks at the pool or one of many nearby lakes, downhill cycling, trampolines, hitting the bars, or doing 101 other sports I won’t even start listing here, Les 2 Alpes truly has it all. It is the most complete summer riding resort in Europe. Period..  If in doubt of what to do or what’s going on, stopping by the Volcom store is always a smart move. Local legend and shop manager Yannick Amevet, of infinite Absinthe Films fame, is always up to date on what’s going on, where the cheapest beer is to be had, which girl NOT to perv on and mucho more. And he is happy to share his knowledge with you. So do swing by. What are you waiting for? Les Deux Alpes remains open until August 27th.. For more info- go here: Why choose this? Volcom Snow's The Launch - Watch Now!
Last month our Volcom Snow ams, better known as the Stone Army crew, loaded up the RV and charged up to Bear Mountain for Snowboarder Magazine’s ninth annual The Launch 2016 presented by Volcom. The Launch is an assembly of age 21 and under riders handpicked by the Snowboarder Magazine crew for a 4 day media shred frenzy, and this year it was brought back to the San Bernadino mountains and constructed by the Bear Mountain crew full of endless rails, transition and kicker possibilities. Despite some windy, blizzard, and sometimes great conditions the boys were on fire with non-stop bell-to-bell action! When it was all said and done, Brock Crouch was awarded Standout and 10 yr old Aussie Valentino Guseli took home the Super Grom award for charging almost every feature in the park!
