RESULTS | Stop #9 of Volcom PBRJ European Tour 2014 | Madrid, Spain

This season the spanish stop was the last one of the tour and took place in Madrid like last year, moving to ParkCenter Valdesquí. The snowpark is managed by Oscar and Madrid is a strategic point accessible from all over Spain. The set up this year was managed by experts Yeyo and Polanco brothers, who delighted everyone with their ideas.

The second zone in the middle took the most attention, it consisted of a roof wallie obstacle connected to a rail. Everyone had fun riding the event setup. There were many locals in all categories but some people from France, Portugal and even from Czech Republic  (Jakob Simoner) signed up at the contest. Some hero names like Curro Santander, Mario Prestel, Pilar De La Cruz, Paula Benito Jorge Polanco, Mati Ian and some more catched all the eyes in the place.

But the main protagonist was the very bad weather we had to suffer all day long. Staff, cameramen, judges, everyone had to work super hard due to those conditions and the neither was easy for the riders. But thanks to all the crew that helped out so much, the event was a total success. The BBQ from Chef  Jesus helped a little bit to keep us fed and warm against the siberian storm we had to suffer. One dude surprised the judges so he took home the best prize in the comp, Dani Tovar. He was supper happy and exited about going to Mammoth Mountains for the PBRJ World Final.

Volcom’s Peanut Butter and Rail Jam snowboarding series was developed to take a different path then other contest predecessors by offering something new to amateur snowboarding. The event encourages involvement from the community while promoting the local youth within the region.  These up and coming riders put their skills on display in a supportive and positive environment. Competitors are judged on the tricks they land, never on their bails upon three unique snowboarding features. This all ages event has no contest entry fee allowing riders to compete in 1 of 4 divisions including: 15 & Under, 16-21, Women’s Open, and Men’s Open. Free lunch is provided to all competitors and prizes are awarded in all categories. An additional cash prize is also awarded in the Men’s Open division! This year we focus on offering fun contest setups for all divisions and age groups, rippable by all as this is the main goal of these events: gather your local snowboard scene around a fun day. See you on the hill! More info: pbrj@volcomeurope.com PBRJ crew, Madrid 2014 PBRJ Poland 2014, Białka Tatrzańska

Iker Fernandez' full part in Finisterre
Certain things in life only get better with age, like a bottle of 1970 Bordeaux Grand Cru, Real Estate values, and man's understanding of the female brain (or maybe not). When speaking of snowboarding ability though, the pendulum tends to lose momentum as age advances, unless your name is Iker Fernandez. Our Basque friend from San Sebastian was raised on pintxos, the waves of la Zurriola outside his door and frequent excursions to the nearby Pyrenees. Could it be that this combo is the fountain of youth that Ponce de Leòn unsuccessfully spent his whole life searching for? Watching Iker snowboarding you can't help but wonder. Iker's favorite jacket is the Stone Gore Tex in mustard.

Where is your God now - A road movie through Norway & the mind of Terje Haakonsen
(Pour le sous-titrage français, sélectionnez CC dans la barre de Lecture) Where is your God now A road movie through Norway & the mind of Terje Haakonsen   Directed by Sebastien Zanella Filmed by Pierre David & Sebastien Zanella Produced by Guillaume Dartenuc From early contest shakeups to progressing the sport in countless magazines and videos, Terje's influence on snowboarding's trajectory is truly monumental. Terje's Olympic boycott and creation of the Arctic Challenge made him a pioneering proponent of rider-run contests. As a competitor he has stacked accolades including all-time high quarterpipe airs and seven Mt Baker Legendary Banked Slalom wins. Desillusion Magazine’s editor in chief Sebastien Zanella followed Terje Haakonsen on a road trip around Norway to gain a true insight into his life away from the spotlight. The video comes with a full report on Terje Haakonsen published in Desillusion Magazine available on store.dslmag.com Supported by Volcom Desillusion is a 260 page coffee table book, ad free, accompanied by a series of short-films exclusively showcasing every week on DSLmag.com. At the crossroads of two opposite worlds, the street & the beach, Desillusion pays a tribute to youth & a subculture raised on a surf and/or skateboard.

DIY // Feather Dipped Ornaments
We've gone ahead and combined our two favorite things for this incredibly easy & fun Christmas Ornament DIY. Feathers & Glitter! Gather your friends around, make some hot chocolate, turn up the cheesy Christmas tunes and start making these fun ornaments for a Christmas you won't forget. WHAT YOU NEED   • gold paint • gold glitter • jewelry wire • paint brush • feathers • scissors • any scratch paper to do the project on WHAT YOU DO STEP I lay out some scratch paper or any surface you don't mind getting a little dirty. Squeeze a dollop of paint on the surface, grab your brush and start painting the bottom half of the feather. Paint downward so it turns out smooth. STEP 2 Sprinkle a good amount of your gold glitter on your piece of scratch paper. STEP 3 Generously dip the painted half of the feather in the glitter. STEP 4 Lay your dipped feathers on a piece of paper to dry for about an hour. STEP 5 Grab your jewelry wire and cut a decent length off. STEP 6 Grab one end of the jewelry wire and start wrapping around the end, maybe 4 times to be safe. Then make a loop big enough to hang on the Christmas tree and wrap the rest on the other side. Last but not least… ENJOY! You've finished your DIY ornament and now it's ready to hang on the Christmas tree! We hope you enjoyed this DIY, stay tuned for our next one coming very soon!
