RESULTS | Stop #6 of Volcom WITP European Tour 2014 | Kassel, Germany

Last weekend, the Volcom WITP – Tour stopped over at the Mr. Wilson Skatehall in Kassel, Germany. Despite the fierce temperatures in the skatepark, a good amount of skaters from all over Germany and Austria showed up and fought the heat.  In all divisions the level was super high and some never been done tricks were thrown down the obstacles of the Mr. Wilson Skatehall.

Spectators could witness young Tyler Edtmayer blasting massive bs airs out of the enormous vert quarter, the local boy Robin Wulf bombarding the London Gap with Varial Heelflips, Fs Flips and other tricks, or Octavio Trindade from Erfurt flying over the table into the down rail with almost every possible trick.

Top 5 of each division are qualified for the European WITP Champs on the 27 of September in Sevilla, will Octavio win again as in 2012?

After the official runs Robin Wulf dogged around the park, happy as a dog with two tails, and sprinkled some crazy tricks at almost every obstacle. In the end, he made the impossible possible and cleared the pizza oven gap while customised pizzas were served by the local crew. One of the most iconic skaters of the day was Alex Schultz who convinced the judges with his steadiness and creativity he unfolded in Kassel.

The contest ended with The Cannibal Girls, conquering the stage with an epic sound.

At the end of the day, there is nothing left to say but:

You should pay a visit to the guys from Mr. Wilson Skatehall in Kassel, shred the park and give them maximum respect, since they hand shaped Germanys most epic DIY spot.

Energizer Bunny

We've all been there, slumped over our desks, our eyes fighting to stay open. Why must we feel this way? We shouldn't!! We've come up with a no fail solution to those sleepy eyed blues and no it doesn't involve drinking 12 cups of coffee….well maybe just a little coffee. Here are 3 ways to jump start your day and help keep you energized all day long! 1. Jump start your body - This one is a no brainer….EAT BREAKFAST. Your morning meal is the MOST IMPORTANT meal of the day, especially when you have a long day ahead. If you want to go healthy {which you should} choose fiber! High-fiber cereals with low-fat milk; yogurt mixed with wheat germ; scrambled eggs with whole-grain toast; omelets stuffed with veggies & reduced fat cheese; last but not least toasted whole-grain English muffins topped with peanut butter. Yum, our mouths are watering just thinking of all the deliciousness. Couple each of these breakfast ideas with fresh fruit & orange juice and you'll be on your way to go with a bang! 2. Re-energize your body - Now this one is very important. You can't just eat one breakfast and stay up all day, that's not how your body works. You constantly need to be feeding yourself with nutrients & vitamins, but in small portions! Eat every few hours and include the winning combination of lean protein and fiber at meals and snacks. Try energy-boosting, portable combinations like yogurt or cottage cheese with fresh fruit; turkey or grilled chicken wrap with veggies and hummus; trail mix; granola bars; and string cheese! 3. Hydrate! - When in doubt, chug water. The health authorities commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 liters, or half a gallon. This is called the 8x8 rule so that should make it easy to remember! not only does water hydrate you, it hydrates cells, keeps your skin fresh & softens your hair. Always carry a water bottle with you, we love Camelbak water bottles to help save you & the environment.

Magnified: Ben Raemers

Hopefully you've had chance to witness Ben Raemers interview in the new Thrasher. The gargantuan ditch board slide featured within is something which twisted minds with its sheer gnar factor. Luckily, Thrasher have just posted the trick on their site ahead of the Enjoi "Oververt" premiere tonight which features our man Caswell Berry along with a full part from man of the moment and new pro Ben Raemers

Carlos Muñoz scores the cover of 3Sesenta mag

While pushing through Europe, Carlos Munoz escaped to one of the Isle's Las Canarias with fellow teammate Gony to score this slab and land on the cover but did he land the drop? Track it down to see what you can find out. Nice one Carlitos, from your friends at Volcom.
Snow

Somewhere in the Southern Alps, King Winter had a FEAST!

Last winter in the northern alps was a sad story indeed. Man made snow at best. However, those with minimum insight into meteorology & history did not despair.. All you had to do was to head the opposite direction of Hannibal, when crossing the alps, and voilà, you were rewarded with a snow pack up to 5 meters deep. Volcom riders DBK (aka Danger Dave/David Bertschinger Karg) and Markus Keller from Switzerland always do their homework, thus not only did they escape the crowds, but scored epic powder days week after week. Here's a little insight into a hard day at work from last Jan/Feb. If riding powder is your path AND destination, then Volcom's Guide Proven Technology gear is just what you need. Dave and Markus refuse to wear anything else. Photo: Vernon Deck Video: Pirmin Juffinger

Snow Garden Festival, Grenoble

For the first time, Volcom was present at the Snow Garden festival, a huge snow movie and music festival. It was set up in the town’s soccer stadium, where more than 15,000 people enjoyed the latest and greatest snow movies, a bunch of concerts and met snow legends like Volcom’s Dan Brisse and  Arthur Longo. We showed Volcom’s new snow film, Mr. Plant on Thursday night in front of 5000 people, followed by a crazy signing session with Arthur Longo and Olivier Gittler. For the entire three days, ton of goodies were given away at the Volcom booth, such as custom hats, screened tee shirts, and we managed a huge “pick a winner” prize pack. We had a great time with some passionate organizers who did an amazing job. Congrats guys, we will see you next year! Volcom Hot Spot // Lyon

Beyond its international reputation as the capital of gastronomy, Lyon is one of the most attractive cities in Europe for its quality of life and economic dynamism. The geographical position of Lyon makes it a particularly popular town for French people: a few hours from the sea, mountains or even Paris, the capital. Some even say that it is a small Paris without the inconvenience, and they are probably right. This week, Olivier our Volcom Store Manager and his team share their best spots of the city. We’re sure you are going to love these places!   Where to have a drink? The Bicycletterie welcomes you for a warm coffee and to pause, repair your bike or just to enjoy Wi-Fi, with a selection of original, quality product. On the menu, delicious handcrafted fruit juices, coconut juice and some of the best iced coffee and tea in the world. They also offer breakfast and snack options. la-bicycletterie.com Voxx is a place in three steps. At 8 am, take your first coffee, the one that you need to wake up. Cars rushing past the terrace are also there to pull you out of your sleep. At 12 am, lunch break, where you can swallow one delicious oriental burger while your friend will be struggling to finish her gigantic salad. At 6 pm, after work, you can meet more friends and spend time listening to the varied music.   In French, the name "Poule au pot" might be that of a neighborhood bar. Location: a quite festive one. Cocktails: trendy as hell. Prices: more reasonable than you’d think. Might perhaps sound quite spread out, but with its on-point music program, which isn’t too elitist, everything is mixed perfectly. facebook.com/la-poule-au-pot As soon as the weather is good, La Barge is one of the nicest places to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine on a barge, as the name suggests, in the middle of the palm trees. All wrapped in a very good musical atmosphere. facebook.com/la-barge   Where to eat something? On Croix-Rousse square, at daybreak, there’s a unusual silence in the area. Then gradually hundred traders pile egg baskets and heaps of fresh vegetables. Stretching almost a kilometer, the huge market wakes up and soon, the place is crowded and the ruckus is noteworthy as people turn up to spend a perfect Saturday morning, devoted to organic products.   The "Bistrot de St Jean" is typically a "Bouchon Lyonnais " in one of the oldest streets in the city. They serve the most prestigious Lyon cuisine around. More meat!!!!! This is the motto of Butcher. A selection of meats that regularly changes with the chef, paired with a bourbon or a classic cocktail from the Butcher's Team which is always motivated and ready to welcome you from Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner. facebook.com/butcher2011 Are you hungry ... or just downright greedy? In all cases, the "Bistrot des Voraces" in the area of Croix-Rousse will please you! With its beautiful terrace and stonewalls, be ready to enjoy your meal in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The food is 100% authentic, made from fresh and seasonal ingredients.   Where to party? Switching between concert stage, club, and café/ bar with terrace, La Marquise day and night is characterized by diversity. It’s a place with good humour where you easily can meet new people any time of the clock. facebook.com/lamarquiseboat Then to one of the latest additions to the Lyonnaise night, everyone was talking about this rooftop project in Lyon, and they didn’t have to be disappointed: Le Sucre. Less than two years after opening, the place has practically traveled the world posing as one of the coolest places of the moment. Appearing first as a place of culture, it is alive with events, whether music, graphics or even private. www.le-sucre.eu What is the Maison Mère? It is primarily an artistic and festive room of its own kind in the very center of Lyon. It is also a cozy bar and a melting pot open to all the public. It’s the best place to have a drink with friends or lovers, see a live concert in the evening, or sweat until the morning dancing away to great music. m.lyon-france.com Established in 2003, Les Nuits Sonores is a festival dedicated to electronic music culture. It takes place every year around May. It now includes more than 100,000 spectators each year and invites 250 artists from around the world and takes place in nearly 50 locations in the city. The festival is now known in Europe for its size (an urban event, very invested in public spaces and heritage sites, including brownfields) and for the quality and the intransigence of its programming. facebook.com/nuits-sonores   Where to experience something different? If you’re an art lover, take a turn at the Contemporary Art Museum and the Museum of Les beaux arts. One feature of the city of Lyon that doesn’t cost and is worth experiencing is all the alleyways. If you have time just go and get lost and find yourself in places you’d never thought of going. There are about 500 alleyways in the city so good luck. They are mainly located in the neighborhoods of Vieux Lyon and Croix-Rousse. lyon.fr   Where to be True To This? Except the City Hall, the Skatepark of Lyon Gerland offers a covered and secure area of 1500m ² with two unique amenities offered, a big ramp (height 3.80m + 4.20m extension) and a mini dual spine (18m length x width 9m). The Skatepark of Sergent Blandan covers 1230m ² and the paths in the park are raised, bend and turn, to fit perfectly into the natural environment allowing all from young kids (from 8 years), to the more experienced ones, to explore a number of original obstacles. Not to forget the bowls at Berges du Rhone… skateparkdelyon.com   Then last but not least – take a ride through Lyon’s Volcom Store and update your wardrobe with some of the season’s new arrivals.
