RESULTS | Stop #6 of Volcom PBRJ European Tour 2014 | Kitzsteinhorn, Austria

What a day! Last weekend, the PBRJ Austria went down at the Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun. Despite a shitty weather forecast, predicting heavy winds from midday onwards, the event was sun-drenched and only later on, as the tents were already packed, the wind kicked in.

Volcom is a proud sponsor of the Kitzsteinhorn snowparks and this partnership allowed this years PBRJ to feature one of the most remarkable set ups.

With a steep and fast “in run” riders had the choice whether to go straight on the stair set to hit the double kinked rail or make use of the two elbow rails positioned to the shoulders of the stair set.

The riders could also just gap the first part of the elbow either straight onto the barrel or the down rail.

The park also pulled a preregistration liftpass small price, 10€ only for the day on the hill! At the end of the day, many shred heads from all over Europe found their way to the glacier in order to rocket launch their tricks down the set.

With a moderate participation in the under 15 category the decision was made that Martin Kikas deserves the first place, for Martin showed some serious commitment and rode almost every obstacle to the fullest. In the category 16-21 the Austrian Nitro Team Rider Dominik Sobe got his tricks together in the most fashionable way and therefore landed safe and sound on the first place. During the girls heat, judges were involuntarily bluffing their cheeks as the girls recklessly sticked their tricks on the double kinked rail. Sabrina Burnham from the Uk presented the most constant riding/best tricks and thus stepped in front when the first place was announced.

The open division boosted the most riders by far and therefore two qualification heats were hold. All riders were highly motivated to give the judges a proper eyeball massage. Especially a small group of Dutch/Belgian riders emerged from their Snowhall breeding grounds in the lowlands and keenly waxed the rails with their boards. But also the local riders brought their bag of tricks to the PBRJ Austria and happily unfolded the treasures they had collected during their laps at the glacier. However, in the end no one else but the German chap Chris Böhnke (Nitro) cleared the roughest tricks in every area, and therefore was supplied with 250€ and the first place in the Open Division, Big props to Chris comboing 2 PBRJ titles and a 4 th place this season. Dylan Norder, won the best performance of the day and will fly to Mammoth Mountain for the 2014 PBRJ Championships. Meneer Norder is a Dutch ripper with a bag full of creative tricks that blew away the judges, he didn’t win the event but got rewarded the trip to Mammoth mountain.

After a brief Monster “Cash For Tricks Session” at the double kinked rail, the happening was coming to end and the predicted winds finally picked up.

Volcom Women's DIY - Coconut Body Scrub with Rose Oil and Himalayan Sea Salt
If you find yourself strolling through the beauty aisle in your local drugstore looking for a body scrub, look no further. We happened to find the easiest body scrub recipe on the planet (and the best might we add). Not only does is smell amazing, it also does wonders on your skin! Our Salt and Sand collection has inspired us in many ways and this DIY is a great example! What you need - Coconut Oil (melted) - 3 tablespoons - Himalayan Sea Salt (fine) - 6 tablespoons - Rose Essential Oil - 12 drops - Air tight container   If you're wondering where to buy Rose Oil, we found ours at Mother's Market. It is also available on the internet. Everything else is probably already in your kitchen cabinet. (Didn't we say it was going to be easy?)   First, melt your coconut oil so that it becomes fluid and easy to mix.   Pour the salt into the melted coconut oil.   Add a few drops of your Rose Oil (10 - 12 should do).   Mix together and voila! There you have it. Easy peasy.   Keep your scrub in an air tight container to keep the moisture locked in. Use it whenever you feel like your skin is in dire need of some R&R! It also makes an amazing gift!

The Mulletfish Surf Series in Hossegor, France, ends Volcom's Totally Crustaceous Tour European leg in fine form!
Despite the bad forecast, the event was a blast ! More than 200 Kids signed up to the contest and enjoyed two days of small but playful Hossegor waves. As some had to secure their spot for the TCT global Championships in Lower Trestles, California, there was some pressure on some surfers and the level of surfing and competitiveness was at its max... A lol of people until the end Surfers from Portugal, Spain, Italy and Canary Islands made the trip to France and had to compose with all top French locals and regulars, which made for a big Euro surf gathering. The tension and competition was fierce in the water but beach games and usual shenanigans kept the spirits high and jolly. Check out the photos below to get a better taste of what went down. About 200 kids attend to the events, a record for the Mulletfish ! This year’s Mulletfish was definitely a “Grand Cru” of the contest! Full results in the end. THE JOHN DOE FRIENDLY SESSION, PSYKOPIT EDITION
For the second consecutive year, Volcom supported the John Doe Friendly Session, a great event gathering the french snowboard scene in Les Arcs at the end of season. Each year the event has a special guest and as Jamie Lynn wasn’t available this year, the organization opted for a reunion of the Psykopit crew (an early 2000’s french snowboard crew that included a bunch of internationals too, mostly known for taking everything on the fun side). Inviting a whole crew turned to be a great choice as the more, the merrier ; the more the merrier. So the weekend was a great mix of snowboarding (around the park designed for the occasion by Volcom team rider Valerian Ducourtil), meeting new friends, hanging out with old friends, partying and good times. Check the clip and photos for a better taste of what went down. Thanks Fred Marchadier, L’amicale du Snowboard, and the Laboshop crew for the great weekend and may the force be with you!
