RESULTS | Stop #6 of Volcom PBRJ European Tour 2014 | Kitzsteinhorn, Austria

What a day! Last weekend, the PBRJ Austria went down at the Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun. Despite a shitty weather forecast, predicting heavy winds from midday onwards, the event was sun-drenched and only later on, as the tents were already packed, the wind kicked in.

Volcom is a proud sponsor of the Kitzsteinhorn snowparks and this partnership allowed this years PBRJ to feature one of the most remarkable set ups.

With a steep and fast “in run” riders had the choice whether to go straight on the stair set to hit the double kinked rail or make use of the two elbow rails positioned to the shoulders of the stair set.

The riders could also just gap the first part of the elbow either straight onto the barrel or the down rail.

The park also pulled a preregistration liftpass small price, 10€ only for the day on the hill! At the end of the day, many shred heads from all over Europe found their way to the glacier in order to rocket launch their tricks down the set.

With a moderate participation in the under 15 category the decision was made that Martin Kikas deserves the first place, for Martin showed some serious commitment and rode almost every obstacle to the fullest. In the category 16-21 the Austrian Nitro Team Rider Dominik Sobe got his tricks together in the most fashionable way and therefore landed safe and sound on the first place. During the girls heat, judges were involuntarily bluffing their cheeks as the girls recklessly sticked their tricks on the double kinked rail. Sabrina Burnham from the Uk presented the most constant riding/best tricks and thus stepped in front when the first place was announced.

The open division boosted the most riders by far and therefore two qualification heats were hold. All riders were highly motivated to give the judges a proper eyeball massage. Especially a small group of Dutch/Belgian riders emerged from their Snowhall breeding grounds in the lowlands and keenly waxed the rails with their boards. But also the local riders brought their bag of tricks to the PBRJ Austria and happily unfolded the treasures they had collected during their laps at the glacier. However, in the end no one else but the German chap Chris Böhnke (Nitro) cleared the roughest tricks in every area, and therefore was supplied with 250€ and the first place in the Open Division, Big props to Chris comboing 2 PBRJ titles and a 4 th place this season. Dylan Norder, won the best performance of the day and will fly to Mammoth Mountain for the 2014 PBRJ Championships. Meneer Norder is a Dutch ripper with a bag full of creative tricks that blew away the judges, he didn’t win the event but got rewarded the trip to Mammoth mountain.

After a brief Monster “Cash For Tricks Session” at the double kinked rail, the happening was coming to end and the predicted winds finally picked up.

VOLCOM X SKULLPHONE II FOOTWEAR COLLAB

Where the fresh ocean air meets the transient grit and oxidized metal of The Port of Los Angeles, artist Skullphone satirizes modern convenience with playfully dark images. In the spirit of west coast urban sprawl, Volcom offers ‘The Skullphone II’, a limited edition design inspired by the colorful racket that is Los Angeles, as part of its Holiday 2014 collection. The army green swede upper pays homage to the stacks of shipping containers that line the L.A. horizon while the printed sole features Skullphone’s signature imprint hiding inside his visual interpretation of iconic port signage. Fragmented paint from his studio floor add the final organic texture to make ‘The Skullphone II’ a one-of –kind sleeper cell you have to have. Get Yourself A Pair Online Now!

Paul Cesar Distinguin « Soup Of The Day »

PC is now on the way to China for his last ASP contest of the year where he will try to get the result he needs to reach the TOP 100 ranking of ASP Qualification Series. Before to fly, he posted his last clip Soup of The Day. Here is how PC describes his clip: 'Soup of the day' is my everyday meal on the hard beach-breaks of Hossegor. No slow motion, no red cam, no exotical places, no shining 4x4, no GoPro, no dress code, just the search for a simple surf, clean and stylish. Surfing stripped of any stories, any anecdote, in an authentic way. The wave, the colour disapear finally to let room to a lively waltz of black and white. Pic: Andrew Christie

On Friday October 17th, Volcom kicked off the North American leg of the Mr. Plant Premier Tour. Pat Moore and Jake Price were gearing up for a tour consisting of 8 premiers, 8 cities in 9 days and what better city to kick of the tour than Volcom's  own back yard, Newport Beach, CA. The infamous Lido Live Theater would be the setting for the kick off of the North America Mr Plant tour. Snowboard industry members and fans a like made their way to the infamous Lido Live Theater in downtown Newport. The 500 seat theater was filled to the brim with a rowdy crew of shred heads. Out from the Volcom Snowboard team to check the film was Pat Moore, Curtis Ciszek, Seth Huot, Bryan Iguchi, Scott Blum, Alex Lopez and Elena Hight. Through out the duration of the film, the theater about blew a screw from the hoots and screams of a hyped crowd, and at the end of the night you couldn't find one person in the theater that didn't have snow on the brain! And this was just the Beginning... The 500 seat theater was jam packed! Wooly introduced the crowd to the upcoming nights festivities. Pat and Jake brought up the team for a final thanks before rolling the film. Free stuff! The Mission Theater in Portland, OR would host the 2nd stop of the Mr. Plant North America Tour. Open bar dude! Pat's ending part brought the crowd to their feet. Pat and Jake brought the party down the street to Slabtown for some cold PBRs and old school Punk. Bi-Marks tearing down the doors. See you in the morning Vancouver! Jake spent his birthday at the Vancouver premier stop, here you see Pat leading all of the Bimini's Public House in singing Jake Happy Birthday. Bimini's Public House had no shortage of TVs, and Mr.Plant was playing on everyone of them. See, told you... The moment the credits rolled, Black Wizard got straight to melting faces. Perfect way to end a great show in Vancouver! Mr. Plant stickers were a hot commodity. Northwest Sales Rep Clint Graham welcomes his fellow Seattle citizens to the show. Roll the film Pat! This kid snuck out of his crib to see the movie! The boys brought the after party to Spitfire, while Jamie Lynn and Wes Makepeace brought the tunes. Those who joined were amping, especially Pat Moore. Jamie and Wes go by Tittyfish. You'll be hard pressed to find a more legendary band in the snowboard scene. Thanks for the jams guys, and goodnight Seattle! Asymbol Gallery had a special Mr. Plant photo gallery waiting for Pat and Jake once they got into Jackson Hole. The gallery featured a collection of Vernon Deck's photos from the filming of Mr. Plant. Hometown hero, Bryan Iguchi thanks Pat, Jake and his local crowd for joining for the night's excitement. Jackson Hole was very pleased! A rowdy mob waited out front of the Tower Theater in Salt Lake City. In the mob was a laundry list of snowboard heavy weights, these two included. JP Walker and Jeremy Jones waiting for the doors to open. Director Jake Price with the man with the opening part, Jake Welch. Bust the doors down and get a good seat! Pat was caught off gaurd by all the excited shred heads! The theater always goes nuts when JLA comes on screen. Pure pandemonium! SLC rocked the house down. Definitely the loudest crowd on tour yet! Next stop, Summit Music Hall, Denver, CO. As fans made their way over to the theater from the Bronco's game, Muscle Beach welcomed them with heavy riffs and beer spray. Satellite Boardshop out of Boulder announced the winners of the Crew Battle video contest they put on. Volcom's very own Dylan Alito and friends took the win! ZSC!! By the time the movie played, the theater was shoulder to shoulder. Elena seamed to find enough room for a slash... The Denver snowboard scene was running high after a stiff Pat Moore/Metallica cocktail. Perfect time to a product toss! To cap off Pat's stay in Denver, Taun Taun lulled him to sleep with throttling drums and wailing guitar solos. Just how Pat likes it. For the last and final stop of the Mr. Plant North American Premier Tour, Montreal! Cabaret Underworld would host the finally send off, and it did not disappoint. Pat even got in the Montreal spirit! Him and Jake thank the crowd for sending them home with a proper hangover. Stoney Baloney The boys were sad to be done with the North American leg of the Mr.Plant premier tour, but then again, what did they have to complain about when the next stop is Asia?! Later boys, and good luck... After a whorl wind tour of 8 premiers, 8 cities in 9 days, Pat and Jake were exhausted, but running high on North American stoke! Now, it is off to Asia to hype of South Korea and Japan. Mr. Plant out!
